We are recruiting for a permanent veterinary surgeon to join two Hospitals in both Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire. This is a full-time position with working 2 days each wee at each site. This is a 4-day week although the practice can also consider part time applications. The role predominantly does involve surgery with a bias to lames cases and stifle surgery as well as offering second opinion support to feeder in 1st Opinion practices. Excellent surgical experience and a post graduate certificate are essential for the application. The shifts are Monday and Wednesday working in St Albans and then Tuesday and Fridays working in Whittlesford. Thursdays would be a day off.

You will be a forward-thinking highly motivated surgeon with a genuine passion for animal welfare. A strong bias in surgery is essential along with a post graduate certificate. You will be expected to provide second opinion consults to support to 1st opinion referrals within the group. You will help develop the surgical caseload for both soft tissue and orthopaedic and other minimally invasive cases. You must be confident in maintaining high clinical standards and delivering an excellent service to the clients. Excellent interpersonal skills and rapport building skills with clients and fellow members of staff is essential. You will be confident in all areas of routine surgery and medical cases. You will be a team player and will work well alongside the head veterinary surgeon and other team members contributing your strengths and skills. You will support hospital protocols ensuring that it runs effectively and efficiently.
The practice boasts a full range of diagnostic equipment’s with ultrasound, blood machines, digital x ray, dental – everything that you would expect from a 1st opinion practice and a Tier 3 RCVS Hospital.
