We are recruiting a permanent veterinary surgeon to join a large modern veterinary hospital and its branch practices in the beautiful countryside of Wales. This is a large multi vet and nurse team along with support staff and it is located close to Severn bridge meaning access to cities such as Cardiff and Swansea are not too far away. This hospital is also recently renovated with all modern facilities and equipment as you would expect. The practice is recruiting due to growth as they pride themselves with retention and over half of their current staff have been with them since graduating. This role sees a huge variety of cases, so this is an excellent career development opportunity for the veterinary surgeon to investigate interesting cases and advancing on their clinical skill set and knowledge. The practice can consider applications form newly graduated veterinary surgeons as the support is available.

Key Details:

  • Hours: Monday – Friday - 4 days per week
  • Weekends: 2:12 rotation
  • OOH: 1:12
  • Sole charge: Yes when on call  
  • Team: Multi Vet and RVN practice
  • Branch work: Yes
  • Other: Accommodation available if required.

This is a large multi branch and Hospital practice with a loyal and large team. It is an award-winning practice delivering only the highest standard of clinical care. furnished with all modern state of the art equipment and facilities it is a fantastic place to work offering the veterinary surgeon and opportunity to grow in their experience, knowledge and skills. The practice actively encourages certificates and have numerous vets currently working towards one so if you are interested in completing a certificate this would be advantageous and encouraged. There is plenty of experience within the practice to keep second opinion internal.  The practice support and follow PDP guidelines and pride themselves on offering new graduates the support they need to develop their confidence knowledge surgical and diagnostic skills.

Person:

You will be a forward-thinking veterinary surgeon with a genuine passion for animal welfare and excellent customer facing skills. You will either be an experienced veterinary surgeon looking to take on more responsibility and develop your knowledge or skill set or a new graduate looking to start their career in a supported practice whereby you will become confident in all routine surgeries and capable of sole charge by the end of year 2!  You will be happy with a mixed workload of consulting, medical investigations, surgical cases and branch work. With regards to OOH there is a senior vet available for support if required.  

Facilities:

The hospital is fully equipped with diagnostic and surgical equipment, with the branches practise running their own diagnostic investigations and internally referring cases which require hospitalisation.

  • Salary - £35,000 - £55,000 pro rata
