A small animal hospital in Whittlesford are recruiting a permanent head veterinary surgeon to lead their team. The ideal candidate must be MRCVS registered with a minimum 6 years’ experience with a strong surgical bias. A certificate holding surgeon would be advantageous or someone who is looking or about to complete a certificate. Previous experience in a leadership / lead / head veterinary role is essential along with 4 years in the role. The role requires a driven veterinary surgeon who is motivated to improve both patient care and staff wellbeing and someone who will drive the business forward. The role is full time 45 hours per week and a 1:6 weekend rota. The vet will leaf the team within the hospital which is also supported by visiting specialists and boasts certificate holding veterinary surgeons. The role is supported by the clinical director and the operation support manager.

  • You will always deliver a high standard of clinical care
  • You will have 6 years or more experience
  • You will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a leadership / head vet role
  • You will be passionate and motivated to drive the practice forward
  • You will be a certificate holding veterinary surgeon or someone who would like to become a certificate holder
  • You will be happy with sole charge work as this maybe required when on call
  • You will be confident in all areas of routine surgery and medical cases
  • You will have excellent customer facing skills and be able to motivate other team members
  • You will work well within the team alongside other veterinary specialists and clinicians  
  • You will be a passionate and motivated veterinary surgeon with a genuine interest for animal welfare
